My Lipstick Collection by Shifa' Azham

Hello all! 

Finally I had the time to actually sit down and write a blogpost for Aleen. Hehe. Well, actually I stalled on the idea for a while because firstly, I preferred to lie down and scroll endlessly on Twitter and secondly, reading her posts seemed more fun than writing my own. 

So I would like to share with you guys my lipstick collection! It's not a big collection but it's enough to fit my small make up organizer, which is good enough for me.

See, there aren't many but these are my strengths that gets me through the day. I have phases where I would wear dark lipsticks religiously for months then wear only my lipbalm, followed by another few months of wearing nude lipsticks. 

Right now I'm between wearing the Kissproof 016, which is in a nice coral-pink colour, and making it into an ombre lip colour by adding the Nyx's Athens's lipstick in the middle of my lips. They usually complement my make-up look for work and it's the one I'm just really into currently.

The Kissproof Gang

I am super positive that I may be the only one who has had no trouble wearing these. I've had read some reviews saying that they sort of cake on the lips, causing the colours to sort of clump together when you press your lips to distribute the colours, but so far the most that I have had trouble with them is that they chip when you place the cap back. But other than that, I haven't had any of those issues while wearing them.

Before applying them, I apply my lipbalm then line my lips from the outer corner of my lips inwards. I then apply the lipsticks the same way I lined my lips using them and fill them in. 

Another one of my favourite way to wear them is by mixing two colours at once, sort of like creating an ombre effect, which is amazing. I usually pair them with either two contrasting colours or of the same shade. 

In this case, I'd pair them like this: 

1. Outer colour 016 + Inner colour 005
2. Outer colour 012 + Inner colour 016
3. Outer colour 011 + Inner colour 012
4. Outer colour 012 + Inner colour 005

They really do give the lips a more fun and arty appearance. I usually wear the first pairing to work and the others when I go outside with my friends. Do note that the 011 and 012 colours are both very deep wine colours so when you pair them together, with a dark look, you look very broody and no one would want to approach you. Trust me, I once wore that during work time and my students didn't want to ask me anything regarding their homework. Haha.

The Silky Girl Gang

It does seem to me that Silky Girl has grown on me, I didn't use to like their make-up products before because I usually think local make-up products would sort of give you a very cheap-looking effect. But I am so glad that they proved me wrong! 

I would also pair my Kissproof 016 with the Silky Girl Go Matte Lipcolour together, with Nearly Nude lipcolour being the inner colour. It gives me a really soft appearance, which makes me seem almost nearly innocent. I have no complains about the Sunny Rose coloured lipstick, it does what it says, it's very moisturising and has a very gentle colour.

However, I have to say I did choose the Moisture Boost lipstick in a wrong shade because Ruby is just such a bright red colour, it just makes me look like I have almost yellow teeth. So when I do wear this colour, I tend to not talk too much or just not show my teeth in general. But since this lipstick is in my make-up bag, I would just wear it in a very tinted manner. I'd use the tip of my finger to gently apply it, so it doesn't stand out too much.

The Nyx Gang

I swear, thanks to Instagram and the explosion of make-up tutorial videos on YouTube, I too have suddenly became obsessed with Nyx. 

These are very matte lipsticks, which I truly advise that you wear your lipbalm before applying them. I would also pair Antwerp with Kissproof 016, with just filling in the middle of my bottom and top lips with it. I do the same too with Athens.

I really do not like wearing these on their own, because they sort of give me a very dry afer feel at the end of the day. But they do stay very long on the lips, around I'd say 5 hours? 

Because I usually apply my lipsticks before the students come to class as well as so that I can prepare myself by looking presentable before I meet any parents who come for inquiries. So I'd definitely say that these are in my work bag almost all week.

So in the end, I think my ultimate favourite lipstick is definitely a tie between Kissproof 016 and Kissproof 011. Because these two has been with me for a while, and they are the two lipsticks that I would undoubtedly take from my lipstick jar.

 It’s time! After, narrowing it down. I have three hot items on my favorites this month! Let's begin shall we?

Maybelline Pure Mineral Concealer in #2

First item, Maybelline’s Pure Mineral Concealer. To be frank, I’ve had few concealers in my vanity but never thought of needing it every single day. That is until, I have the Maybelline’s Pure Mineral Concealer in my vanity. I need this baby, every single day! I find it very smooth to apply, and the coverage is great. I mean, good enough to cover up my blemishes! This works not only on blemishes but also on my dark circles. It goes by the saying “a little goes a long way”. Really! And the best part of it all, this only cost RM 21 per tube! This is definitely one of my holy grail concealer, if you must know! I would definitely get more of this, if it runs out! 

  Wet N' Wild Ultimate Brow Kit in #E963 Ash Brown

“Brows before bros”, that would be my second favorite item this month. Brows! I love drawing my brows, it doesn’t require the same shape every day. To me, as long as I feel good walking around with it. Its fine! But most importantly, with eyebrows well groomed, it brings confidence! I mean that is one thing I can’t go out without! If you’ve seen my “New in Vanity” post, you would know I’ve discovered the Wet N’ Wild’s Brow Kit. And I have loved it, ever since! Everything about it is perfect! For only, RM 24.30, I find this to be working very good! Mine, is in the color #963 Ash Brown. I believe that this is the only shade they stock. The kit comes with a light and dark shade, a wax, a brow brush, tweezers, and a mirror. The powder applies evenly and lasts for a long time! The product is a win- win, with its customized shades, handy tools and packaging, you can't go wrong with it! With its price, trust me this product is an absolute steal!  

NYX Badunkadunk Lush Lashes Mascara

NYX's Badunkadunk Lush Lashes Mascara. Now this is not THE BEST mascara out there, however, I noticed that I have been reaching for this one the most this month. That's the reason of this post after all right? I got this, at RM 34 per tube. It says here on the tube that this mascara is form as a length and volume mascara and to me, that is what is practically does. This mascara is however, not waterproof. If I know I will be out and about, under the hot weather, I know I won't go for this. But other than that, for an everyday use, I have been loving this very much! It seems, to give me the lashes I wanted for my go to everyday look!

New in Vanity // Price List

Hi there! Sorry for not posting anything for long. I guess I just got too caught up with everything. Today’s post will be on the new things I got in the vanity and also the price list. Hope this helps. I bought all these recently as I was celebrating my anniversary with the special one (benefit of celebrating the anniversary in a mall, I guess?). Now, below is the picture of the things I got and price list of them as per below. Have fun!

And that’s basically it, to be frank I did not buy them all with my own money, the NYX Slide on and Naked by Urban Decay was actually gifts from my boyfriend for our anniversary. (HOORAY!) I hope you’ll enjoy this post and find it helpful in any way!

July's Favorite

Well, there will always be an item or two that you all out there will use frequently in a month. Sometimes, things that you have bought before but never been used but came to try to make it work and also new discovery! Mine, are both of the above. Let’s begin with the first item that I favored most in the month of July and that has to start with the basic, which is the Soap & Glory “Clean on Me Creamy Moisture Shower Gel” If you’ve seen my previous post on obsession on Soap & Glory you would definitely see this item on that post. First of all, the packaging are just too cute it always reminds me of the Benefit Cosmetic’s packaging using inspired pin up girls back in the days. Just lovely! That was actually the reason I became attracted to Soap & Glory. I still remember getting this item for the first time and went all crazy and planned to get more, which I did (referring to the previous post). Other than the packaging, the scents are just to die for! My favourite scent would be from the “Original Pink” range which was the first scent that came out from Soap & Glory, “With natural mandarin peel extract and bonus Built – In Body Lotion” What can beat that huh?

"Clean On Me Creamy Moisture Shower Gel by Soap & Glory"

The “Clean on Me” bottle, in 500ml cost me about RM 46.00 per bottle which is affordable to me knowing the outlook and the scent that it gives me.  Also, with the tick consistency that it carries, my bottle of 500ml would last me 2 months, more or less. Awesome right? This is actually my third bottle. I have used it, since early this year but I do change to something else like The Body Shop in Raspberry Body Wash. Not that there’s anything wrong with it though. I just felt like coming back to Soap & Glory due to be missing the scent so much!

"Kissproof Lipstick by Me-Now in colour 003"

The second item that I came to love would be the Kissproof Lipstick from Me-Now in colour 003. Now that season autumn is in, I know this colour would be handy to be placed in my purse all the time to keep track on the makeup trend if you get what I mean. The colour of this long lasting lipstick is very deep. It is very maroon – purple like kind of colour which I totally adore, it reminded me a lot of "Sin" by Mac which I love too! I found out about this Taiwan brand lipstick from a friend of mine, and wanted to see if it was as great as what people say online. Of course, I went to look up online for reviews on this brand. Knowing that it is only RM 10.00 per tube, I had to be extra conscious before purchasing it. Anyhow back on how good this lipstick is. Honestly, it is a bit dry that you need to apply a layer of lip balm before applying this but other than that I love how matte this lipstick is, the long hours that it last up to and the range of colour that they come in, totally adore! Again, for only RM10.00 the kind of quality that it provides, definitely worth the money! Like most of the Lip colour Lipstick out there, this one do come out a little if it touches oil especially the ones in your meal. To end this Kissproof Lipstick by Me-Now story, I now have all 19 colours from their range to go through the seasons all year long and loving it!                                            "NYX Eyebrow Pencil Crayon in EP04 Brown"

And onto the third item, that I favour most on the sweet month of July would be the “NYX eyebrow pencil” Okay, I am sure when it comes to makeups eyebrow is the most important part to do! Honestly, the worst I can do if I am in a rush and have just 10 minutes to do my face. I would ignore the base make up and go straight for the eyebrows, mascara and a tinted lip balm or a bright lipstick (depend on the situation). And that would do the trick. You know before I was in the makeup academy, I was a zero in makeup. I know nothing but just pretty faces in magazines and wonder, how did that happen? More little did I know about eyebrow(s)! But now after 5 years has passed from the first day I joined the academy, I would keep my Tutor’s words in mind and that would be “Do not, I mean do not leave the house without your eyebrow(s) done! That is just suicidal!) Helpful huh? It’s true, after years and years in the search of more tricks in makeup I explored the Makeup Gurus from Youtube, did experienced a few backstage job on doing fashion make up. Others as well, would say the same other than the base make up to keep your face flawless, the eyebrow plays a main part as well. Agree?

Oh well, enough said about history of me studying eyebrow(s) huh. Let’s get back on the Eyebrow Pencil by NYX. I got mine in the colour EP04 Brown which I think was the darker brown available on the counter than I went to in Sephora. Okay, I used a lot. And I mean A LOT of eyebrow pencil in the past. Not that I don’t like using the previous ones. It’s just that I thought it would be great to be exploring more. I’ve used one by Revlon that was okay as well for a drugstore brand. I decided to try the NYX once, after seeing one of the Makeup Gurus on Youtube raving about it also by coincidence mine was running out so I thought, why not right? Just recently before this, I was using the one by Catrice Cosmetics in the colour Charcoal, it was sold in Guardian, One Utama which I think for now any Guardian should have it? I’m not sure. Anyhow, that one was okay. But I realized the colour that Catrice Cosmetics is carrying is more suitable on pale skin. I don’t know if it’s because it is new in the Malaysia’s market? I’m loving the NYX one at the moment for it being easy! By easy I mean, it’s not those type of eyebrow pencil that you have to sharpen it when it runs out of arch. This one just needs you to twist it which really is helpful for me especially when I’m in a rush getting ready for work, I guess it’s like an auto pencil? Is that what you call it? And the texture of the pencil itself is gel like and very pigmented. It even mentioned on the pencil “NYX Eyebrow Pencil Crayon.” Again, what’s not like on a Crayon brow pencil right?

Seriously, this item runs out of stock very fast. After many visits to Sephora, I finally managed to get one in hand. I got mine in the price of RM 24.00, affordable right? There were of course a few other colours in range, but I went straight to the brown one as I know my hair colour is pretty dark. Oh not to forget, this one came to two tips, as in the pencil itself and a tip on the brush. Which I find it VERY helpful on helping me blend the colours on my eyebrow(s). Kudos NYX. Of course, I don’t use only that for my eyebrow(s), in addition I still add a very dark brown eyeshadow powder on my brow(s) to add in colour if there still imperfections on it and brush it with an eyebrow gel to make it stay in place and last longer.

Alright, beautiful ones. I guess that would be my three most favourite item I frequently use in July 2015. I have more things to share with you, but then I thought that would probably make this blog super long and probably as well get a tiny bit boring. There’s so much to love out there! Hope to be posting for more goods next time!
